Having a clear picture about one↕"'s own health and contro "l over one's overall h≤ε§ealth management - including preventi ✘✔¥on and prognosis - is a dream✘→π of many people, especα£ially when it takes hours to regφ←ister for a five-min≈↓ute doctor's visit.

"Artificial intelligence (AI) mak♠®×es it possible for people to rece'&ive a checkup in offices a≈× αnd receive medical advice online, whic≤δ≈h can lead to a revolution of the hea&←¥®lthcare industry in Chinγγ✔a," said Li Xiaoxia, fo§γλ∏under of Beijing Koboro He<↑alth Science and Technology.

A Beijing-based tech startup,₽↑ Koboro has developed an app cal✔₹led "Daxia Health" which uses a c''ombination of artificial i↕ ±'ntelligence and machine∏♥ learning to provide medical$ε≠ services, according $∑♣★to Li.

"The AI technology-supported 'D®™₩♦axia Health' application can help ✔ ♠☆analyze and process large ≥©amounts of health data collected ≥φfrom the clients and give✘¥ precise, individualized recommendation£→s which are checked by human doctors t±✔&Ωo guarantee accuracy," Li said.

The technology can greatly improve ef‌βficiency for both doctors an♠×d patients and transform the he¥​althcare industry, added Li. She <∞has recently been rated as a top 10 ↕©female entrepreneur in tech in‌↑‌• a report released by ↕™‌&Ali Research Institute, China Entre£"p Mulan Club and Alibaba Inno§‌$vation Center.

Big companies like Google, Miλ☆₽₹crosoft and Alibaba have staλ×≤‍rted to tap into the AI-powered me♣¥↕‍dical care market in recent years, Xi>πnhua reported.

"Although healthcare bi ≈g data systems are still in thei¥↔₹r infancy across the world, China has↑ ←↕ an opportunity to take a leading role.'♠ China's increasing senior popula♥φ≠tion provides a large amou‍↑✔$nt of data," Li said.

China had more than 230 million §>people aged 60 or above at the end of 2₹✔016,16.7 percent of t€≠↑he total population,≤×™ according to the Ministry of Civiγ↑λl Affairs. Elderly people in Chi∞σna are expected to acco"πunt for about one quarter o‌&πf the population by 2030, Xinh←&↓ua reported.

"All the products of Kobσ​ε‌oro are based on fundamentπ∏₹πal needs of doctors and ©×₽use the 'Internet Plu'δ©s healthcare' model to achieve the uΩ•↔ltimate goal of helping cλ↕lients stay healthy in♣←§φ a full life cycle," product direct§Ωor Yang Song said.

Koboro divides clien♣®α£ts' life cycles into 13 st✔♣≈σages from a half year before birth to ×​αmore than 90 years old. Clients atβ÷™ different stages can receive profes§ ₩sional medical suggestions, σ✔running the gamut from We☆♥§stern medicine to tradit♦>ional Chinese medici₩£★ne, Li said.

Liang Wei, a health™φ$α management doctor at Koboro, displa‍δ≥→yed a health report of a > 26-year-old female whose "​↕ ®body age" is about 51 years↔₹☆' old.

"Based on this person ± 's health check and basic informatק↕ion, the AI-supported sy¶&σstem can predict the∞≥ risks for her to ge↑®εσt certain diseases. Ouλ₩←∞r health management team, including s₹δ∞πports specialists and nutritionist÷×$φs, can give detailed recomπ¶♣mendations to prevent these₩β' diseases," Liang said.

The recommendations could be ™>☆so detailed that the client wouldπ→ know the hours she should wal㧕↔k, the number of steps to walk ea ≤≤♣ch day for exercise and the kind‍→ε≥s and amounts of food ↓€®she should eat, Li sai ✘‍d.

Li Xiaoxia said the '≈profit rate of Koboro ₩←π×was between 30 and 40 percent in the fi‌ •±rst two years after '★its establishment in 2012. She haα♥₹λs invested recent years' profits in±γ AI-supported systems and σγ  relevant products.

Li, who is confident inβε the future of Koboro,≠≠→  said the profits can be i ∏φn the tens of millions or even sever€£✘al billion in the future, as inte£γφ±rnet healthcare can gene•γrate profits from variou★ s channels, such as health manag↑λ®♥ement services and healthcare pr§÷♣♥oducts.

Inspired by her father,‌‍∑® who used to be a barefoot doctor←β, Li also wants to have ≥∞↓ a close relationship wi≤®♦th patients by being ✔↕✘✔there whenever they need support. €✘♥This is difficult when people are busy§Ω and fly to different places.

"Thanks to developments in data, AI ∞ and internet technology, it is βπδ✔possible to standardiz✔✘♠×e the process to prevent and contπ₽φ↕rol chronic diseases and establish a he★™βalthcare platform online to benef♦¶βit more ordinary people≈βα in China," Li said.

The great business opportunities♣σ¶ emerging in the industry in<→✔ China also come from the Chi₽∏‌nese government's support, ±₩÷→Li added.

In Oct 2016, Chinese authorities relea£‍sed "Healthy China 2030", a blueprint‍‌ that aims to improve the♦& health of the people. The blueprint cβ♦≤£overs areas such as public h$‍≤'ealth services, the medical♠'€‌ industry and food and drug safe∏™ty, China Daily reported.₩☆£♠
